The UK 49er Class saw an increase in activity in 2019. Following the Class AGM, it was agreed to reinstate a formal committee to provide racing events in 2020. This is being spearheaded by an enthusiastic core of 49er sailors who are working hard to move the class to the next level in 2020, encouraging competition on all levels for all rigs.

For 2020 the class membership is free.

In future this may change to provide funding for class training and racing.

The role of the class association provides sailors with the following:

UK Open Events
Class training which will very likely be subsidised from membership funds.
National and Inland Championships
Class Website and admin.
UK representation on world council.
Dinghy Show stand (Sponsored by Ovington boats) and RYA class association fees, these go on to pay ISAF fees (which go on to create racing rules etc.)

Please come to the class AGM which will be held at the 2020 National Championships if you would be interested in contributing more to the class.
